Civil Bench

Civil Bench is part of the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret Collection—an ensemble distinguished by its essential forms and honest materials, reflecting a harmonious blend of modern European ideals and traditional Indian spirit. Originally produced between 1955 and 1956 for the residences and apartments of the members of Chandigarh’s Legislative Assembly, the bench features three consecutive seat elements supported by a single front crossbar and two side supports, set in the distinctive inverted "V" shape. The seat showcases the characteristic woven cane pattern that recurs throughout the collection, while Cassina’s Research and Development Centre offers two new options for the wooden frame: natural oak and stained black oak, alongside the historically faithful teak version. Each piece is crafted in the company’s renowned carpentry workshop. Optional cushions are available to enhance comfort and protection.
