Leggera represents a pivotal chapter in the collaboration between Gio Ponti, Cesare Cassina, and the skilled artisans of Cassina — a partnership that began in the 1950s. The project challenged Cassina’s master carpenters to push the boundaries of their craft, focusing on reducing weight and refining form without compromising the chair’s strength or stability.
Today, the Leggera remains thoroughly contemporary, thanks to the many possible combinations and color contrasts between the ashwood frame, the seat upholstery, and the padded backrest. The latter features a separate, removable cushion, offering both comfort and customization — a timeless piece that continues to evolve with the spaces it inhabits.
