In Dutch, polder refers to low-lying land reclaimed from the sea—an idea reflected in the Polder Sofa by Hella Jongerius, with its flat, asymmetrical form and horizontal emphasis evoking the Dutch landscape.
The sofa features a unique mix of fabrics in harmoniously coordinated tones, available in four muted colour palettes: Sea Greens, Pebble Greys, Earth Reds, and Antarctic Blues—each suited to a wide range of interiors.
A signature detail, the sofa’s distinctive buttons are crafted from natural materials like horn and wood, with one light and one dark set per sofa for contrast. Each button is unique, showcasing natural variations in tone and texture—an intentional design choice that reflects Vitra’s thoughtful use of materials and commitment to sustainability.
