British born designer and graduate of the Royal College of Art, James Irvine, has died aged 54.
In 1984 Irvine moved to Milan and in 1988 he opened a design studio making industrial design products.
He is best known for his product and furniture designs and his studio has worked with brands such as Alias, Arper, MDF Italia, B&B Italia, Canon, Muji, Olivetti, Thonet and Zumtobel.
For his work in the design industry, James Irvine was awarded an Honourary Doctorate in Design from Kingston University and was appointed as a Royal Designer for Industry in 2004 by the Royal Society of Arts in London.
