Designed as a composition of volumes held in equilibrium, the loose cushions are cradled within a painted or chrome-plated tubular steel frame—a visible, load-bearing cage that defines the design’s identity. This concept is consistent across all versions, from the armchair (with one or two armrests) to the two- and three-seat sofas.
Over the decades, Cassina has collaborated closely with Charlotte Perriand, her daughter Pernette Perriand, and the Fondation Le Corbusier to develop new variations and finishes. These additions respectfully reinterpret the original vision while remaining true to its essence and architectural clarity.
Among the most significant evolutions is the outdoor edition, which features a frame in stainless steel with a durable textured paint finish, available in five colours. The cushions, adapted for outdoor use, are upholstered in water-repellent fabric to ensure resistance to the elements while maintaining the comfort and refined aesthetics of the indoor version.
