A seat and its double—Clarissa balances two opposing gestures: one side encloses and protects, the other opens and invites. This intentional ambivalence distinguishes form from content, image from concept. The name Clarissa Hood alludes to this dual function—the hood as both a symbol of protection and concealment, framing the face or shielding it, suggesting openness or withdrawal.
The visual impact is striking: a three-dimensional form that echoes the flatness of a sketch, overlapping colours that unify rather than divide, and a design where tension is not resolved, but carefully balanced. Clarissa is a dynamic lounge chair, poised between readiness and repose—a sculptural expression of both competition and collaboration, provocation and poise.
Made of injected flame-retardant foam over a steel frame. Swivel base available in varnished steel or with an oak veneer. The main cover is fixed; the removable quilt is attached by zipper.
