description

The form of the chair—especially its sweeping armrests—is inspired by the courtship dance of male ostriches, known as banjooli in the Wolof language, who fan their wings in a display of beauty and elegance.
Banjooli is part of M’Afrique, a collection designed by Stephen Burks and handcrafted by African artisans using brightly colored fishing-net yarn. Each piece is unique, with slight variations that reflect the human touch of hand-weaving—celebrating individuality through both perfection and imperfection.
