Javier Mariscal’s design language draws heavily from comics—a source of inspiration he openly embraces. Characters like Alessandra, Eulalia Pérez, and Saula Marina seem to have leapt from the pages of an underground graphic novel infused with irony, tinged with sarcasm, and shaped by a playful take on contemporary life.
Anticonformist, libertarian, and unmistakably postmodern, Mariscal constructs a visual narrative through the eyes of a teenager—where instinct precedes meaning, and emotion outruns logic. A desire for curves, overlaps, and sensual combinations of forms liberates these pieces from the conventional passage of time, placing them in a parallel world that is, in essence, our own.
Constructed with flame-retardant injected polyurethane foam over an internal steel frame. Feet are made of natural or black-lacquered beech, screwed directly into the frame.
